Baykar Defence has been teasing its new Combat Unmanned Aircraft System (MIUS) which it will reveal on July 20, 2021. A new unmanned aerial vehicle design is included in the post on Baykar Defense’s Twitter account with the words “Holiday gift is loading, wait for 20 July…”.

In the video shared, only certain parts of the design are shown.

When the illustrated parts of the design are brought together, a shape reminiscent of warplanes emerges as the wing and front part. At this point, the only remaining possibility is that the aircraft to be introduced on 20 July is the MİUS (Combat Unmanned Aircraft System) operated by Baykar Defense. MİUS, which is aimed to make its first flight in 2023, will be a milestone for Turkey in the field of unmanned warplanes.

İbrahim Haskoloğlu interviewed Baykar Defense General Manager Haluk Bayraktar about ongoing and potential projects. Haluk Bayraktar stated that the unmanned warplane is a very important target for Baykar, and announced that the MİUS project is currently in the conceptual design phase. Stating that at this stage, the focus is on determining the needs and requirements, Bayraktar explained that MİUS will be fully equipped with artificial intelligence and that it can make certain decisions on its own. The platform to be produced within the scope of MİUS will cruise at the speed of sound at high altitudes.

Target 2023 in combat drone system
Baykar Defense Technical Manager Selçuk Bayraktar made a statement about the Combat Unmanned Aircraft System (MİUS) they are working on at an event organized by the Ministry of National Education in June 2020. Selçuk Bayraktar, who emphasized the National Technology Move during the event, also gave information about the Combat Unmanned Aircraft System (MİUS) studies; He stated that his company would work on MİUS until 2023. In the mirror used by Bayraktar, some features of the MIUS platform attracted attention.

In the reflected images, there were some technical features about MIUS. Accordingly, the platform, which will be powered by the MIUS turbofan propulsion system, will be able to stay in the air for approximately five hours at an operational altitude of 40.000 feet. The MIUS, which will be able to work with the SATCOM data network without range restrictions, will have a cruise speed of 0,8 Mach. With its 1 ton ammunition carrying capacity, MIUS will be able to perform close air support, strategic attack missions, suppression/destruction of air defense systems and missile attack missions.
