At the end of the year, Joachim Lücking, who has been successfully working as Head of Unit Aviation Safety at the European Commission for many years, will be leaving his current position and moving from the air to the railways. From January 2025, he will take up his new position as Head of Unit for Railway Safety and Interoperability. His designated successor is Christine Berg, currently responsible as Head of the “Single European Sky” unit (MOVE.DDG2.E.3). Like Joachim Lücking, the future Head of Air Traffic Safety (MOVE.DDG2.E.4) will also be a member of the EASA Board.
Together with UAV DACH board member Michael Wieland, Dr. Gerald Wissel (photo), Chairman of the Board of the Association for Unmanned Aviation, met Christine Berg for an initial exchange of ideas in Brussels. They agreed to continue the dialog and to regularly exchange views on the future of unmanned aviation in Europe and the efficient integration of drones and eVTOLs into the airspace.
