Alexander Schott (left) has served as the new President of the Federal Aviation Office (LBA) since August 1, 2026. He was officially brought into office last week in the presence of Federal Transport Minister Steffen Bilger (right). Executive Board members Dr. Gerald Wissel, Oliver Lichtenstein, and Dr. Martin Pietrek attended the ceremonial event in Braunschweig on behalf of UAV DACH.
In his inaugural address, Alexander Schott announced his intention to focus particularly on accelerating processes and driving digitalization. He also emphasized the need for an intensive, constructive dialogue between industry and regulatory authorities to ensure that requirements, regulations, and technological capabilities remain aligned. Only in this way, he noted, can good inventions evolve into true innovations.
Accelerated, digitized processes and a regulatory approach that provides the necessary scope for existing technological capabilities are vital prerequisites for a future-proof UAS industry in Germany and Europe. UAV DACH stands ready to support the new LBA President and the staff of the Federal Aviation Office in these and other key tasks for the benefit of the drone economy. After all, in the face of international competition, swift action is required to shape the future of unmanned aviation together.
