Drone Deployment at the Swimming Lake

Drones Can Help to Save Lives

Summertime is swimming time. When it gets hot and sunny, people are drawn to the sea and swimming lakes. But whether due to carelessness, overconfidence, or offshore currents and winds, carefree fun in the cool water can turn into a fight for survival in a matter of seconds.

If people get into trouble in the water, a little buoyancy can buy them precious seconds before the lifeguards arrive. That's why drones are being used at more and more swimming spots to help bring rescue buoys to those in distress. Unmanned systems also provide invaluable assistance in the search for possible accident victims. When people go missing, drones take off and rescue workers can quickly survey large areas via live images. Some UAS even fly autonomously over large bodies of water to find drowning victims. Artificial intelligence that can distinguish between natural and unnatural swimming movements makes this possible. Placing such drones permanently in hangars on unguarded beaches and integrating them into the rescue chain is one of the most important innovation projects of major aid organizations such as UAV DACH member Björn Steiger Foundation.

Unmanned systems can prevent many swimming accidents and save people from drowning. That's because drones help save lives.

To ensure that drones can be used effectively and sustainably for the benefit of all, we are working together with our member companies and partner organizations to establish the best possible framework conditions for commercial UAS operations throughout Europe. In the interests of the UAS/AAM industry. And in the interests of maximizing added value for society.
