Key Points for U-Space in Germany Defined

Key points for the introduction of U-Space areas in Germany. At a working meeting in Bonn, representatives of the Federal Ministry of Transport, the Federal Aviation Authority, the Federal Supervisory Authority for Air Navigation Services, and UAV DACH discussed how future U-Space areas can be introduced and used in practice in Germany. The association for unmanned aviation was represented at the meeting by CEO Dr. Gerald Wissel, board member Michael Wieland, and Jan-Eric Putze, head of the Competence Group “Infrastructure Airspace.”

The key points discussed provide for the introduction of U-Space in Germany with clear responsibilities and as little bureaucracy as possible. Procedures are to be designed to be efficient, transparent, and practical in order to enable a wide range of commercial and public applications.

UAV DACH is to be involved as coordinator, with the task of accompanying the process of formally establishing the relevant areas, bringing together the respective stakeholders, and providing technical recommendations to the competent authorities. The key points discussed will now be incorporated into the finalization of the draft for a German U-Space law.
