A major success for our IT Safety & Security Competence Group, led by Marco Müller-ter Jung. Following the guidelines for the open operation category and for BOS facilities, the next practical guide has been published: the “IT Baseline Protection Profile for the Operation of UAS, Volume 2: UAS Category ‘Specific’“. The basic protection profiles were developed in close coordination with the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) and are available for free download on the BSI website.
A failure of the communication infrastructure or tampered databases can lead to UAS malfunction and thus endanger flight safety. While Volume 1 of the Basic Protection Profile addressed the “Open” category, the now available and similarly structured Volume 2 addresses the specific requirements of the UAS “Specific” category and the associated challenges. For example, when it comes to appropriately addressing IT and cybersecurity in the risk assessment and in the operations manual.
The “IT-Grundschutz Profile for the Operation of UAS Volume 2: UAS Category ‘Specific’” fits into the established system of IT-Grundschutz profiles from the Federal Office for Information Security and can be downloaded here free of charge (German language)
