Open Exchange Between Authorities and Drone Industry

At the latest meeting of the UAS Technical Bodies (TeB) of the European Union Aviation Safety Agency, representatives of the European Aviation Safety Agency, national aviation authorities and European expert associations met at the EASA headquarters in Cologne. UAV DACH was represented by board member René Wagner and Matthias Vyshnevskyy, Co-Chair of the Advisory Committee of the Unmanned Aviation Association.

A key objective of UAV DACH is to help shape a practical framework for commercial drone operations. The participants at the TeB meeting agreed that this can best be achieved on the basis of an open exchange and intensive cooperation between all stakeholders. There was also broad agreement that the continuous development of the regulatory framework is key to establishing a strong, resilient European UAS industry.

For this reason, one of the topics discussed in Cologne was how cooperation with and for the drone industry could be both optimized and formalized in the future and what priorities should be set in the further development of the legal framework for the commercial operation of unmanned systems in Europe.

UAV DACH will continue to play an active role in the initiated process and incorporate the knowledge gained in Cologne into its extensive specialist group work. After all, it is crucial for the development of a strong European UAS industry to contribute industry perspectives and experience to the constructive dialog with politicians, authorities and associations.
