Dr. Gerald Wissel and Michael Wieland met – together with Dr. Stefan Berndes and Sentiana Schwerin from BDLI - Dr. Wilhelm Eschweiler, who was appointed Head of the Aviation Department at the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport Affairs at the beginning of May, in Bonn, Germany. During an in-depth personal meeting, the two UAV DACH board members explained the UAS industry's requirements for an enabling regulatory framework for the commercial use of unmanned aerial systems and the need to promote this at European and international level.
It was agreed that the constructive and trustful dialog between the BMDV and the Association for Unmanned Aviation should not only be continued, but even expanded and intensified for the benefit of the developing drone economy. Particularly in view of current regulatory projects in the area of U-Space and Advanced Air Mobility, the close exchange between industry and the Ministry of Transport is of crucial importance for the further development of Germany as an attractive drone industry location
With this in mind, the Federal Ministry of Transport and UAV DACH also want to join forces with other national and international partners, such as the German Aerospace Industries Association, in order to contribute to the further positive development of the European drone economy with broad-based funding measures and support initiatives.
