Unmanned systems are increasingly becoming standard equipment for police and emergency response teams. Interest in the field of UAS was correspondingly high at the General Police Equipment Exhibition & Conference in Leipzig, or GPEC for short. As a partner of the expert forum “Drones – Drones in the Field of Internal Security and Homeland Security,” moderated by Michael Wieland, UAV DACH played a prominent role in the event and positioned itself as a competent partner for law enforcement and emergency services.
With the increasing use of Unmanned Aircraft Systems by authorities and organizations with security responsibilities, it is not only the requirements for training and operational concepts that are rising. In particular, issues of information autonomy, data protection, and standardized security processes are coming increasingly into focus.
At GPEC 2026, Gunnar Korte from the UAV DACH Competence Group IT Safety & Security presented the “IT-Grundschutz Profile for the Operation of Uncrewed Aircraft Systems in Government Agencies and Organizations with Security Responsibilities,” developed in cooperation with the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI), and was available to answer questions from interested participants. For practical application, the European Association for Unmanned Aviation has also integrated the IT baseline protection profile directly into the “verinice” information security management software in collaboration with SerNet GmbH. This enables government agencies to create, manage, and document their security concepts digitally.
