Whether at the recent EASA IAM Implementation Forum in Cologne or at the EUROPEAN DRONE FORUM on February 17 and 18, 2025 in Düsseldorf, direct exchange between UASoperators and regulatory and approval authorities is always a good thing. After all, constructive cooperation makes it easier to share information and increase understanding of the “other side's” point of view.
The Federal Aviation Office (LBA) in Braunschweig, Germany would now like to create another opportunity for an exchange of experience, dialog and knowledge transfer. For this reason, the B5 division at the LBA, which is responsible for Hashtag#unmanned systems, is hosting two information events on December 12, 2024. From 10 a.m. to 12 noon, the focus will be on entering the special category, while from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. the focus will be on exchanging experiences on existing challenges with current legislation and the work of the authorities.
The operation of UAS in the special category in accordance with the European Drone Regulation is sometimes a challenge, not least in view of the requirements and specifications regarding the approval process. Both for Drones-operators as well as the responsible regulatory authorities. Opportunities like this are therefore a great way to work on creating comprehensible and practicable framework conditions for all parties involved through networking and mutual information.
