One of the main tasks of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) is to contribute to safety in civil aviation through harmonization and standardization. Reliable, internationally coordinated rules and procedures are also crucial for the UAS industry. This is why the United Nations' specialized agency for unmanned aviation is so important.
UAV DACH is therefore also actively involved at this level in shaping the framework conditions for safe and commercially sustainable drone operations. Several ICAO working groups of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) have recently published drafts of the regulatory framework for the operation of UAS, which can be commented on until the end of April. Under the technical coordination of the Advisory Committee of the Association for Unmanned Aviation, the various specialist committees of UAV DACH are working with the involvement of all members to develop coordinated statements from the association and incorporate them into further ICAO processes.
The Competence & Application Groups are a key pillar of the association's work in UAV DACH. These groups are where experts contribute their know-how and experience in order to jointly develop practicable regulations and concepts for economically sustainable drone operations in Europe. In this way, all members of the Association for Unmanned Aviation can actively contribute to the development of adequate framework conditions for their own business operations.
