Following the inauguration of the new ministers and the handover of official duties in the various federal ministries, the new German government under Chancellor Friedrich Merz has taken up its work. UAV DACH wishes the entire new federal cabinet good luck and a happy hand and will constructively and critically support its work in the interests of the European UAS/AAM industry.
For this reason, we have written to the Federal Chancellery, the Federal Ministry of Transport and the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space to point out that the planned transfer of responsibility for the promotion of U-Spaces and Advanced Air Mobility to the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space as part of the restructuring of departmental responsibilities could slow down the development of the UAS/AAM industry and, in the worst case, slow it down completely in some areas. In our view, it is to be feared that the division of responsibilities for individual UAS/AAM topics could lead to considerable difficulties for both the federal ministries concerned and the German aviation industry.
With the “LF 19 - Future of Aviation” department, an organizational structure has been established in the Federal Ministry of Transport to create a sensible framework for the UAS/AAM industry of the future. The transfer of responsibilities to another federal ministry would lead to an increased need for coordination and regulatory friction at this point. With a view to Germany as an aviation location and the importance of unmanned systems for the economy, society and defense, the Federal Republic cannot and should not allow itself to slow down processes at this point from the perspective of UAV DACH.
