Proposals to simplify BVLOS line inspections discussed

At the end of May, representatives of the Line Inspection Application Group in the Unmanned Aviation Association were guests at the meeting of the UAS Technical Bodies (TeB) of the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). During the meeting, they presented specific industry requirements regarding regulatory simplifications for the UAS-supported inspection of power lines and gas pipelines (as reported).

The question of how this could be driven forward at a national level and how the desired simplifications could become reality was now the subject of a meeting of the UAV DACH AG Line Inspection, which was attended by Daniel Phiesel, Head of the Unmanned Aviation Project Group at the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport Affairs (pictured right). In a direct and constructive exchange, they discussed how potential users, and the responsible regulatory authority could make progress together to enable this economically and ecologically sensible use case for BVLOS missions nationwide. Another important step towards shaping the future of the drone economy in general and drone-based infrastructure in particular.
